2019 BLANC DE BLANC
This “white of white” is based on Chardonnay grapes, giving it the wonderful elements of that variety: apple and honey characters on the nose, complexity on the palate and the ability to be delicious when young, or superb with age.
As a youngster it is a classic aperitif style... to be enjoyed pre-dinner with tangy salty oysters, gourmet nibbles on pumpernickel, to look fabulous in a flute glass and raised in celebration of some important life event, or simply as a conversation starter/accompaniment. With age it will sparkle in candlelight alongside a signature roast chicken and it will always be romantic....
Drink now as a young wine.
Hunter Valley, New South Wales.
The youth of this wine is evident in its pale straw colour, and freshness in those appley fruit characters. The complexity is evidenced by the richness, depth and persistence in the mouth. Its potential to age is indicated by the strength of acid backbone through to the finish.
The Hunter 2019 vintage was outstanding, with average rainfalls and temperatures, allowing for optimal ripening and flavours.
The Chardonnay fruit for this wine was sourced from a 30-year-old vineyard block in the Upper Hunter sub region, planted on volcanic red clay soil, giving it good acid.
100% tank fermented, resulting in a delicate wine. The wonderful fresh acid in this wine is very apparent.
